How do I manually quote on a job?

Manually quoting on jobs is simple but there are some factors you should take into consideration when doing so. First off, we will go through a simple “How to” on manual quoting –

1. You have received a job alert you wish to quote:

If you’re accessing the job via an email alert you can follow the ‘Apply for job’ link on the email to apply for the job. If you’re set to auto-login this will take you direct to the job in your account. If the link takes you to the sign-up page, don’t panic. This just means your auto-login has expired in your web browser. All you need to do is go to the following link - https://www.whocanfixmycar.com/login and login using your details again (make sure you tick remember login details). Once you have done this you should be able to go straight from an email to your account again.
If you’re accessing a job alert from the website homepage you have two options to apply. The green ‘Apply for Job’ button is a streamlined version that allow you to send a quote message straight away.
You also have the ‘View job’ option. The application process is the same as the previous option however, in ‘View job’ you are provided more detail and can see if the driver has made any additional requests you may need to factor into your quote.

2. Creating your quote message

The next step is creating your quote message. You can type your message in the quote field but to save you time we provide the option to set up multiple message templates you can choose from where you just need to amend the price and driver details etc.
You can access your list of templates from the drop-down menu just above your quote message. Once selected this will auto-fill the message box and you can make your amendments if necessary.
To create new or amend existing quote templates, from the homepage navigate to the blue toolbar on the left side of your page. Choose the ‘Quote Settings’ icon and you can make your changes in this section. For more information on how to do this see the “How to create and amend quote templates” section.

3. Pricing

The next step is pricing. You should include your price in your quote message, and it should be as clear as possible for the customer. You should also enter your price in the “Your quote” field otherwise you will not be able to proceed. This price should always be inclusive of VAT where applicable.
Once you have done this you can click on apply to send your quote.

4. What’s included

Not a necessity but you do also have the option to add items to the “What’s included” section. You can use this to highlight additional services such as collection and delivery or free valet if you wish.

What else do I need to consider?

Now you know how to quote manually there are a few things you need to consider;

Are my messages professional?

All messaging should be as professional as possible. Use appropriate language and deal with customers in a professional manner. If you’re not sure how to structure your message or what to include, contact our support team for some advice.

Am I quoting effectively?

Manual quoting is a great way to interact with potential customers but an over-reliance on manual quoting can leave you at a competitive disadvantage.
Even for the most attentive user manual-quoting takes longer, and critically the amount of time that passes between the job being posted and receiving your quite has a bearing on the likelihood of a response from that customer. This isn’t to say it’s not worthwhile but often it is wise to follow up your quote with a text or a call if the job was posted some time ago.

Do I need more information to quote this job accurately?

If there isn’t enough information on a job to quote it accurately first time round don’t worry. Send a message with either a diagnostic or inspection fee and brief explanation of what information you would require. Customers fundamentally want an idea of what the price will be, but most will appreciate it’s not always straight-forward answering that question. If you send professional message explaining what’s required most will appreciate this and you can even set up a template for examples such as this.
Customers do not appreciate zero or extremely pricing, it comes across as suspicious and unprofessional and many will be put off in taking the quote seriously.
For more information on this see the “How to quote complex jobs” section.
