A New Revenue Stream for RAC Approved Garages

A New Revenue Stream for RAC Approved Garages

Please note that this offer is currently only available to RAC Approved Garages.

The RAC's free MOT offer is here.

We’re offering some new members a free MOT at an RAC Approved Garage of their choice. That means they’ll come to you for their MOT, and we’ll pay for it. You can charge us what you normally would for an MOT (up to £54.85).

Who can claim a free MOT?

  • Members who buy RAC Complete Breakdown Cover get one free MOT.

  • Members who buy RAC Complete Breakdown Cover on a Family Policy get two free MOTs.

  • Members who buy RAC MOT Plus (a standalone product) get one free MOT.

How does it work?

Here’s how the free MOT offer works.

  • Eligible members will get an email with a unique voucher code they can use to get their free MOT or, if they have MOT Plus, they will receive their vouchers straight into the myRAC App.

  • They’ll book an MOT with you through FixMyCar.

  • On the day of their MOT, they’ll need to show you either their MOT voucher in a live version of the myRAC app, or an email with their membership number and the voucher.

  • If the member does not provide a voucher code, they’ll have to pay you directly.

  • Once you’ve done the MOT, all you have to do is fill out a simple claim form and return it to us. We’ll process your form and pay you for the MOT in the next 14 days.

What you need for your claim form

When a member comes for their free MOT, you need to collect a few details first:

  • Their voucher number

  • Their vehicle registration

  • The date the MOT was carried out

Remember, if a member shows you their voucher code in an email, make sure you can see their membership number, and the date of the email. Check the email isn’t more than a year old.

If they show it in the myRAC App, make sure it’s a live version app, and not a screenshot. Check the time shown at the top of their screen is accurate.

Voucher codes will begin with FREEMOT, FAM1MOT, FAM2MOT, MOTPP or MOTPF.

Claiming your payment

When you’ve finished the MOT, use the details you’ve taken down to complete the MOT claim form. We’ll also need your address, RAC Approved Garage ID and the price the member would have paid for their MOT.

Here is the MOT claims form.

We’ll email to confirm when your claim has been processed, or if we need any more information.
